Selecting A Perfect Camping Location

Going on a camping trip and spending time out in the woods is an excellent means of escaping the usual grind of work-eat-sleep. It provides the chance to experience nature to an extent that most people just can't do everyday.

Tips on finding the best location for camping.
Before you can find a camping site that will be perfect for you it is necessary to find a great campground. Many campgrounds now have internet websites, which makes this task much easier. You can make an educated decision about your campground as most websites allow a virtual tour or at least have pictures of their campsites.
Keep in mind however that much like menu-pictures in a restaurant, a campsite always looks a bit more glorified than it actually is.

Deciding what type of camping you want to do is the first step in choosing your campsite. When a campground offers "primitive camping", it sounds intriguing, but what does that actually mean?
At a primitive campground you will need to bring everything with you that you will need. Prepare to bring everything from toilet paper to a first aid kit and from shelter to lots of water. If you want the basic amenities in your campsite, such as electricity, water showers, and at the very least a pit toilet, don't opt for a primitive campsite as they are usually deep in the wilderness.

Quite the opposite are the campgrounds that are not only breathtakingly gorgeous, but also provide lots of amenities, such as water, electricity, and disposal. Some campgrounds even have spas!

The characteristics of most campgrounds, camping site amenities, location and cost, usually fall between these two extremes. If you choose to camp in a private park you will probably find all amenities you desire. Lots of sites encourage long-term stay by providing conveniences such as laundry, stores, and even arcades! The majority of private parks have family oriented activites for all including but not limited to bingo, sport competitions for children, fun games for the kids, human stratego, etc.

Fees for the Campground
It costs more to stay in private commercial campgrounds than in ones that are open to the general public. Modern campgrounds in state parks offer a variety of different setting from rustic tents to resort like cabins. A number of them provide connections for electric, swimming pools, shower and flush toilet facilities, guided tours, play areas for the kids, and so on.
Most state and national forest parks only offer the basics. You are likely to discover fire pits, picnic tables and primitive toilets. The good news is that these campgrounds are very affordable as they may be free or only cost a few dollars per day.

Make reservations early with favorable weather.
Note that during nice weather people tend to settle in early. If you want a premium spot you have to come early and get lucky.
Do you wish to camp by the swimming pool and playground? That will be a wonderful convenience for the children but at the same time it could be a noisy location with a lot of foot traffic to contend with. The same holds true for sites located near showers or bathrooms. People are likely to be walking by your tent day and night.

Do you want a quiet, isolated setting or do you prefer to be in the midst of the hustle-bustle? With the wide variety of options camping offers there are sure to be features or activities that appeal to everyone; you will locate the perfect campground for you and your family.
